If you look closely at the snow bank on the right you can see a brown area in the snow. The snow above it fell in the 3 snow storms we had in April 2009. Below that line is all the remains from all snows from November to April!
Snow at the visitors center atop of Trail Ridge Road has had snow higher than the roof. Because the winds were blowing the wrong way, Caterpillar tractors had to be used to move the snow rather then snow blowers (as below).
Aided by the wind, the snow blower cleaning Trail Ridge Road can really throw the snow. These machines have two motors, one to move the machine, the other to throw the snow. The road should be open by May 22, 2009 (Friday).
