Featured Animal: Bobcat

Bobcat



The bobcat is one of the 5 predators in Rocky Mountain National Park. About 1.5 to 2 times the size of a large house cat, it is a constant hunter. It has little fear of humans and can be found throughout Rocky and the town of Estes Park. Note the large tufted ears.

The other predators are bear, coyote, mountain lion (puma) and fox.

NEWS YOU CAN USE
Plenty of Snow

February 2008 — There is plenty of snow in Rocky for snowshoing and cross country skiing. Favorite areas are:

  • Bear Lake Trails
  • Spraque Lake/Glacier Basin Trails
  • Cub & Fern Lake Trails
  • Wild Basin

Trail Ridge Road is Closed

Trail Ridge Road has been closed for the remainder of the 2007 season due to high winds and blowing snow and will open before Memorial Day 2008.



Fall River Road is Closed

Fall River Road is closed for the 2007 and will reopen the Friday before the 4th of July 2008 (June 27, 2008).
