Getting Married in Rocky Mountain National Park
Wedding ceremonies are permitted in Rocky Mountain National Park. A non-refundable administrative fee of $50 to $200 is charged for a wedding permit for all weddings after March 27, 2003. Also, the normal entrance fees are collected when entering the park for the wedding. Carpooling is strongly encouraged as parking space is limited. Wedding ceremonies conducted in the park require prior written approval from the Chief Park Ranger’s Office. Ceremony Locations:

Weddings are not permitted in public facilities such as visitor center, roadside turnouts, parking areas, overlooks or in special wildlife viewing areas.

Most areas such as Endovalley Picnic Area, Upper Beaver Meadows—will accommodate only small groups (10-15 people). Larger wedding parties may be permitted at Moraine Park Museum Amphitheater (up to 35), at Lily Lake (up to 100).

No areas can be reserved for the exclusive use of the wedding party. Park programs and activities may be taking place in the same general area.

Regulations:
Park visitor center, restroom, and other buildings may not be used for wedding preparations such as dressing, picture-taking, rehearsals, and waiting areas. These facilities cannot be used in the event of inclement weather.

Equipment such as tables, chairs, carpets, tents, floral displays, sign, banners, flags, generators and amplifiers cannot be used in the park.

Facilities for reception and parties do not exist in the park.

Throwing and scattering of rice, birdseed, flower petals or other materials is prohibited.

Normal entrance fees apply to all vehicles associated with the wedding. Lump sum entrance fee payments and advance payments cannot be made.

Excellent non-designated sites for small weddings include Endovalley Picnic Area, Upper Beaver Meadows, Hollowell Park, Beaver Lake and Sprague Lake. Beaver and Sprague Lake site may only be available in the off season. You can find your own special spot and apply for a permit, but it is a good idea to have an alternate area. Wedding permit areas are limited on the busiest days such as the 4th of July and Labor Day.

Amphitheaters at the campgrounds are not available for weddings with the possible exception of Timber Creek Campground (West Slope) that may be available when the campground is not full.

Other fees – Additional fees for actual/overtime spent by NPS staff regarding administrative costs maintenance/custodial cost and /or monitoring by a ranger(s) as necessary plus 3 hours (= $100) to cover time needed for billing.

You should allow at least 1 to 2 weeks to get your Rocky Wedding Permit:

  • Print the form, fill in all areas and mail it back to the Park Service — DO NOT SEND FEE AT THIS TIME!
  • The Park service will review and approve your application and issue you a permit. Now you send in the fees requested with your permit.
  • Your permit is for the date and time on your permit. If you have to postpone the ceremony because of bad weather or other valid reason, you MUST contact the Park Service about rescheduling your ceremony.
You can apply in person at the Rocky Park Headquarters and receive your permit for a same-day wedding if:
  • You apply on a week day: no permits are issued on weekends.
  • The Park personal who approve the permits are available.
  • This process may take several hours so plan ahead.
